Martin Beck was born on 4.7. 1978 in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia.

After studying at SPŠPT he graduated opera singing at The Prague Conservatoire, where yet during his study he was accepted to The National Theatre opera engagement. He became a professional photographer in year 2002. He is an artistic photographer of The National Theatre since year 2014.

Martin keen on through viewfinder of his camera Hasselblad 503CW to insight souls of celebrities whose he takes picture, however in different way than usual. Because he tries to capture them in such way, how they would like to see themselves.

Every photography is manually magnified by the author in a dark chamber. Everything is entirely classical – there is no digital technology entering in the process at all. For the actual photographing he uses Ilford FP4 Plus and he induces photos on silver bromide paper with baryta base from Foma or Ilford companies. Such conservative approach guarantees that each photography is really unique.

For the last decade in front of his camera these celebrities standed: his holiness Dalajlama, prezident Václav Havel, director Miloš Forman, actor Sir Ben Kingsley, chansonnier Charles Aznavoure, DJ Martin Garrix, opera songstress Edita Gruberová, opera singer Plácido Domingo, conducter Libor Pešek, busker Glen Hansard, singer Karel Gott, stage director Robert Wilson, plastical surgeon Bohdan Pomahač,  photographer Jan Saudek and many more…
